LEGISLATIVE UPDATE: NONSUBSCRIPTION IN TEXAS AND THE 80th LEGISLATIVE SESSION

New data is now available on nonsubscription and Texas nonsubscribers. TXANS’ Executive Director, Steve Bent will review the new information including nonsubscriber litigation rates, updated numbers relating to Texas nonsubscribers, nonsubscriber benefit programs and TXANS member surveys.
Mr. Bent will also look ahead to the 80th regular session of the Texas legislature, which will convene on January 9th. He will discuss proposals relating to additional workers’ compensation revisions, who would like to see more changes and who will oppose such measures, the November elections and what the changes to Texas’ legislative body could mean to Texas nonsubscriber and our state’s workers’ compensation system and much more.
A number of bills that warrant attention from all Texas employers have already been filed. Mr. Bent’s presentation will include a summary of the pre-filed bills on such topics as wages, taxes, transportation and more along with other legislation that will likely to be filed to affect Texas employers. .
