PUBLIC COMMENTS REQUESTED ON NEW MEDICAL NETWORK RULES

On Friday, August 5th, the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) released informal “working draft” rules for the workers’ compensation health care networks, whose creation was mandated in the workers’ compensation reform legislation passed by the 79th Legislature.

TDI is now seeking public input on the draft rules and encourages those wishing to provide comments to do so via email, to WCNet@tdi.state.tx.us. Informal comments most be submitted no later than 3:00 pm on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 and all comments should identify and estimate any foreseeable costs.

TDI’s working draft is not a formal rule proposal and therefore has not been published in the Texas Register. In addition, for the purpose of the Administrative Procedure Act, TDI will not treat responses as formal public comment.
